Redcord Training

Redcord, otherwise known as Neurac, is a system that originated in Norway. Redcord is designed to help patients with musculoskeletal pain regain normal function by using high levels of neuromuscular stimulation. This is accomplished by suspending the patient in a series of slings that offload weight and allow the therapist to gradually increase weight-bearing exercises while reducing or eliminating pain.

Redcord assesses “weak links” in a patient’s kinetic chain. Weak link testing challenges the body in various weight-bearing positions. The patient’s performance is compared to their other side and if there is pain or a difference side-to-side, the test is considered positive. This assessment guides the therapist as to where to initiate treatment as weak links often contribute to their pain or dysfunction.

Treatment on Redcord has the capability to unweight the body through a series of bungee cords. The bungee cords make the person lighter and therefore increase the ease with which the body can perform the correct movement patterns. Due to this “weightless system,” Redcord enables the clinician to start exercising someone at an earlier point in their progression who otherwise might have been held back due to pain or immobility. This can include patients in acute / chronic pain, post-surgical patients, upper/lower extremity or neck/back pain. Progressions can then be done to train the client for wellness and high level athletic capacities.
